A BIG “THANK YOU” to everyone who participated in the Big Event Project of working in the NEW Castle Court Garden located outside the 4th and 5th grade wings. Phase one of the Castle Court Garden project is almost complete! It includes: a new walkway, benches, raised garden beds for each grade level, looms for Art, the tree in memory of Mr. Stroud donated by Breanna's Buddies, a butterfly garden with a bench donated by Mrs. Jones who was last year's teacher of the year, lawn dominos for math, a set of lawn Scrabble pieces for practice with spelling, 24 pairs of kids gloves, garden tools for the kids/teachers, water hoses/sprinklers/pots, a shed to hold everything and an herb garden with both culinary and medicinal herbs to study. The addition of outdoor, magnetic bulletin boards which are on order and musical instruments will complete this phase in time for a ribbon cutting before the end of the school year.
This project was accomplished with the generous donations of supporters of the 2014-15 Fun Run, the Castle Hills Education Foundation, Lowe’s in Lewisville and Frisco, LISD staff and faculty and a great group of CHE parent/student volunteers. Over the next few years, we hope more outdoor projects will follow to extend the outdoor learning area.
