SUBJECT: Castle Courier Vol. 16, No. 8

Volume XVI, Issue 8 - November 28, 2017

With Thanksgiving celebrations completed and as November is ending, I would like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude.

We have accomplished so many things since August – Back to School parties, Meet the Teacher, lunch duty, library help, STEM classroom help, Hurricane Harvey donation drive, Dress to Learn drive, Spirit Nights, newsletters, After school programs, Destination Imagination meetings, Ice Cream Social, HHS Homecoming Parade, One & Done Fundraiser, Candy Lane Carnival, Red Ribbon Week, Curriculum night, Walk or Bike to School, Annual Tree Planting, Reflections, Faculty Appreciation Luncheons, Box Top collections, rough drafts for Kingdom Tales, and the Veteran’s Day celebration! All of this would not have been possible without the countless hours of preparation from our dedicated volunteers.

Thank you to the PTA Board members, Committee Chairs and all our volunteers for your time, patience and creativity. Your efforts are much appreciated and have not gone unnoticed. Thank you to our sponsors and the local businesses who have partnered with our PTA to help us achieve our goals for our children. And a special thank you to Mrs. Taylor, Mr. Johnson, and our beloved teachers and support staff. We appreciate the tireless hours you spend in preparation for and with our children each day. Thank you for partnering with us and allowing us to be advocates for our children.

I am sincerely grateful for our community and the privilege of serving our school and children. I read somewhere that Gratitude is the gateway to joy. My heart is full of joy.

Truly,
Nina Samuel
CHEPTA President 2017-19

CHE Book Study

Save the Date! Our Book Study on February 8, 2018 will be The Future of Happiness by our very own neighbor and CHE parent Amy Blankson. Plenty to time to start reading!

As part of the Great Expectations program, every class has a Class Creed. Each classroom creates their own standard for their class by writing a pledge together at the beginning of the year and reciting it in unison every morning. Ask your student to say their class creed for you!

For more information on Great Expectations, please visit greatexpectations.org.

Mrs. Rainwater’s 1st Grade class recites its Class Creed each morning.
They pledge to treat everyone like it is their birthday everyday!

THE FUN STUFF a.k.a. "Why We're All Here"

Hi! My name is Olivia Faraday, and I am in Ms. Perrin’s 2nd grade class! My favorite thing about being in 2nd grade is science- I love doing experiments! My favorite thing about my teacher is she is very nice! The event I want to highlight is Red Ribbon Week. During red ribbon week we talk about saying no to drugs, like alcohol and tobacco. During red ribbon week we dress up on different days- like wearing red, wearing crazy socks, and wearing team shirts. We do this because it shows that we are all supporting saying no to drugs. The whole school participates in these events! My favorite thing about the event is wearing crazy socks, because you have to be crazy to do drugs! Everyone should participate in this event because it’s a fun event and everybody should say no to drugs!

Hi, my name is Sanjana Rajagopalan and I am in 3rd Grade. My favorite thing about being in this grade is we get to take the STAAR test. My home room teacher is Mrs. Madera. My favorite thing about Mrs. Madera is we get to do cool science experiments. I am writing about Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is an awareness week about making good choices and saying NO to Drugs and Alcohol. All students at CHE are encouraged to participate. This event is pretty cool because it teaches kids at a young change about the bad effects of Drugs and Alcohol and to stay away from it even when someone you know asks you to try it. Kids should participate in this program because it teaches you the importance of staying healthy and having a better life. SAY NO TO DRUGS!
