SUBJECT: Castle Courier Vol. 17, No. 11 - Jan 7, 2019

Volume XVII, Issue 11 - January 7, 2019

Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed their time off, and your 2019 is off to a great start. Our PTA has planned just as many great programs and events as the first half of the year. We are excited to get started and share what you can expect.

Our January PTA Meeting will be on Thursday, January 17th at 6:30pm in the SCHOOL GYM. The theme is Cultural Night & World of Art and is hosted by Kindergarten and Second grade. We will be highlighting the artwork of the Reflections winners and participants.   We will also be hosting our annual Cultural Night after the meeting. Come join the fun and experience dance, crafts and food from various countries. If you are interested in participating in the event by representing a country, please reach out to Mounika at mounika.12345@gmail.com.

We will have our Digital Safety Week led by our librarian Mrs. Teal at the end of January. Teachers will be discussing what it means to have good digital citizenship. To help celebrate this week, students are encouraged to participate in each theme days. Go to CHEPTA.net to learn more.

If you have a student who loves science and performing experiments, you won’t want to miss our upcoming Family Science Night featuring exhibits and experiments from The Perot Museum. Mark your calendar now for the evening of Thursday, January 31st here at the Castle.

Also, we are recruiting for the open PTA positions to serve in the 2019-20 school year. Please consider serving on the PTA Board or committee and how you could share your talents with us. We will post those opportunities in an upcoming newsletter and on our website.

I am looking forward in sharing all the fun with you and your families. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Truly,

Nina Samuel

The PTA Volunteer Program is one of the best ways that parents can support the students and staff at our school.

Please review the brief descriptions of each volunteer area and indicate your preliminary interests. Your contact information will then be forwarded to the CHE PTA board member or committee chair that is in charge of that activity.  Someone will be in touch with you soon.

Please be aware that Board Policy requires that each volunteer undergoes a background check before working with students.  You will need to complete the background check during your VOLY account creation process. Go to VOLY now to get started:

THE FUN STUFF (AND WHY WE'RE HERE)

My name is Kierlin Duncan and I’m in the 3rd grade.  My favorite thing about 3rd grade is being on the other side of the building.  My teacher is Ms. Clayborn and she makes going to school fun because she lets us use technology a lot.  I’m going to describe Fastt Math which is a fun and easy way to learn math. What I like about Fastt Math is that it has goals and levels for completing math.  Plus, it has all these games for you when you’re done!  You should do it because we’re in the twenty-first century now.  Everybody does things digitally now, right? All in all, I think you should try Fastt Math.

PTA's mission is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
