SUBJECT: Castle Courier Vol. 17, No. 9 - Nov 26, 2018

Volume XVII, Issue 9 - November 26, 2018

With the Thanksgiving break coming to an end, it is a perfect time to reflect and recognize those who influenced where we are today.

We have accomplished so many things since August – Back to School parties, Meet the Teacher, lunch duty, library help, STEM classroom help, LovePacs donations and packing party, Stuff the Pantry drive, Parent Education night, Spirit Nights, newsletters, After school programs, Destination Imagination meetings, Ice Cream Social, HHS Homecoming Parade (Yay, for the 5th grade float win!), One & Done Fundraiser, Candy Lane Carnival, Red Ribbon Week, Curriculum night, Walk or Bike to School day, Annual Tree Planting, Reflections, Faculty Appreciation Luncheons, Kingdom Tales (thanks for the extension to Dec 12), Veteran’s Day celebration, musical performances, and Clean the Castle Court days!

All of this would not have been possible without the countless hours of preparation from our dedicated parent, student and teacher/staff volunteers. Thank you for making each PTA event and program special for our students and being an example of what it means to be a community.

Thank you to the PTA Board members and Committee Chairs for your time, dedication and creativity. Your leadership and planning of each PTA event is much appreciated. Thank you to our sponsors and the local businesses who have partnered with our PTA to help us achieve our goals for our children. And a special thank you to Mrs. Taylor, Mr. Johnson, and our beloved teachers and support staff. We appreciate the endless hours you spend to make each day count for our children. Thank you for the love and passion you show our children. Thank you for being open to parent ideas and partnering with us to be advocates for our children.

I sincerely appreciate each of you and am encouraged by the overwhelming support for the PTA. Thank you for giving me the privilege of serving our school. My heart is filled with gratitude.

Truly,
Nina Samuel

My name is Ashna Daniels and I am in 3rd grade in Ms. Madera's homeroom class. Ms. Madera is so funny and nice. I love 3rd grade because of the fun field trips and because I am now on the other side of the building.

I want to tell you about the Reading Counts program and why everyone should do it. Reading Counts is for everyone except Kindergarteners since they are new to reading. You have to read Scholastic books and take quizzes on the Reading Counts app to get points. You can get a Dragon Pin and go to an ice cream party with your points. You need alot of points for the ice cream party so you should read alot of books.

My favorite thing about Reading Counts is the ice cream party. Everyone should do Reading Counts because it helps you read more books, and the practice makes you a better reader.

PTA's mission is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
