All NEW CHE

Cafeteria Waste Reduction Program!

We have successfully rolled out our CHE Cafeteria Waste Reduction Program! They key components to this program are the new “Flip-Tap-Stack” system with the styrofoam lunch trays and the addition of recycling bins. By stacking and recycling CHE has reduced the number of garbage bags used daily from 5-6 bags down to 2 per grade level. That is 30-36 trash bags down to just 12 school-wide!

Thank you to the staff and volunteers for your support in making this happen!

STACKING TRAYS:

-"Flip-Tap-Stack"

   - Flip the tray over and tap the trash into the trash bin

   - Stack the tray at the end of the table and place in trash

RECYCLING:

At this time students may recycle:

- Plastic #1-7 (except Styrofoam)

- Plastic Juice/Gatorade bottles (no milk or juice cartons)

- Soda Bottles or Cans

- Water Bottles

- Clean cardboard containers or emptied plastic dividers from Lunchables (completely remove and throw away the plastic seal)

NONE of the following can be recycled:

- Milk or juice cartons (neither from the lunch line nor from home)

- Capri sun pouches

- Foil

- Plastic Bags

- Plastic Plates

- Plastic Utensils

- Plastic Wrap

- Napkins, paper towels, etc.

- Any soiled paper or plastic items

**Basically, if the students are at lunch and can easily crumple it up then it's probably not recyclable (paper is recyclable of course!)
